You can upload documents to your WordPress website by using the ‘Add Media‘ icon.
A list of accepted Document filetypes:
- .pdf (Portable Document Format; Adobe Acrobat)
- .doc, .docx (Microsoft Word Document)
- .ppt, .pptx, .pps, .ppsx (Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation)
- .odt (OpenDocument Text Document)
- .xls, .xlsx (Microsoft Excel Document)
Uploading a new document when Editing/Creating a Post or Page:
- Create a new ‘Posts‘ / ‘Pages‘ or open an existing Post / Page in editing mode.
- Click your cursor on the location within the text box that you would like the image to appear in the Post / Page, once this is done click the ‘Add Media’ button located directly above the text box.
- Choose the ‘Upload Files’ tab.
- Click ‘Select Files’ to choose a file from your computer to upload.
- Once the file has finished uploading, make sure to select ‘Media File’ from the Attachment Display Settings drop down menu. This ensures that text added to your post will actually link to the file you have just uploaded.
Inserting a previously used document when Editing/Creating a Post or Page:
- Create a new ‘Posts‘ / ‘Pages‘ or open an existing Post / Page in editing mode.
- Click your cursor on the location within the text box that you would like the image to appear in the Post / Page, once this is done click the ‘Add Media’ button located directly above the text box.
- Choose the ‘Upload Files’ tab.
- Click on the desired document.
- Click ‘Insert into post/page’ button located in the bottom right hand corner of the window.
- Once the file has finished uploading, make sure to select ‘Media File’ from the Attachment Display Settings drop down menu. This ensures that text added to your post will actually link to the file you have just uploaded.
